Rat - Anti-Collagen Type I & II IgG and Subtype Antibody Assay

Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) can be induced in various strains of rats by immunization with heterologous type II collagen. In general, 50-60% of antibodies against the collagen used for immunization cross-react to autologous rat type II collagen. It is important to determine antibody levels to the heterologous type II collagen used for immunization and to autologous collagen to correlate IgG antibody levels, as well as IgG subtype (IgG1 and IgG2a) levels, with the development and severity of arthritis in the rat CIA model.
